INTRODUCTION
Green Living Movement in collaboration with sport associations & relevant organizations (Swaziland National Association of the Deaf, UNDP-Disability Unit) hosted its first person with disability sports day which seeks to embrace all abilities. This is an event that will be held yearly from 2024 which is aimed to grow both in numbers and impacts.
The first edition of the event had a total of 120 participants both abled and disabled.
OBJECTIVES
Promote Inclusivity: Create an environment where individuals with disabilities can participate in and enjoy sports.
Chess association teaching participants how to play with aid if translators.
Build Community: Strengthen connections within the community by bringing people together for a shared purpose. Through the introductions of the different sports and the mandate of each sport association.
Encourage Physical Activity: Foster a culture of health and fitness through adaptive sports.
Raise Awareness: Increase awareness about the capabilities of disabled individuals and the importance of accessible sports. Media will cover the event so collaborators should bring their Gazibos and barners for organization visibility.
Environmental sustainability: awareness on environmental issues will be raised through structured display and information made available in work stations set up.
