The aim of the project was to improve waste management practices in the Lobamba area (Khula). The project was funded by UNDP. The lead implementing organization was Green Living Movement. The project’s target population was the Lobamba constituency, community of Khula including all groups (women, men, youth and people with disabilities), which were to be capacitated on skills and knowledge on waste management (3Rs practices) and backyard gardening. GLM with the support of UNDP launched a project on waste management at Khula and Buka community in the Lobamba constituency, aimed to minimize waste, empower the beneficiaries with knowledge and relevant skills, increase food security through recycling, composting and backyard garden and to strengthen waste management in the community through the 3Rs practices (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), ultimately working towards achieving SDG 12 “ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns” and SDG 1 “eradicating poverty”.
To build capacity of NGOs in Eswatini to access GEF SGP grants addressing plastic pollution through a circular economy approach. This involves the collection of plastic bottles and they are processed to make bricks and these bricks are used to make a pit latrine toilet.
The top shows Make Mamba’s garden with mulching and below its’ Make Dube’s garden. Both gardens have been fenced.
